Meet the Author

You, Me, Us

Summary:

Get to know (you) me (us)

Notes:

This was written in a craze at midnight and is predominantly rambling. Also, the formatting on the tags bit may be messed up on different devices but there is very little I can do about that.

Hello and welcome to the inner workings of my brain. Or something like that.First things first, I don't think an Ao3 account with this name exists, but, on the off chance that it does, I swear it's not me. You, Me, Us in the context of me (the Soliloquy submitter) has no outside accounts. Well, I do, but they're under different usernames. On the topic of my pseud, it is directly based off of The Haunting of Bly Manor, wherein they have a reoccurring declaration: "It's you, it's me, it's us." Go watch Bly Manor if you haven't done so yet, and then follow it up with the rest of Mike Flanagan's shows. You won't regret it, I promise. (not a legally binding promise)I considered using "The rest is confetti" or some variation of that as my pseud, which is a nod to my beloved Nell Crain from The Haunting of Hill House (part of the Flanaverse, keep up) but ultimately decided against it. It reminds me a lot of Pinkie Pie from My Little Pony and my writing simply does not, and likely will never, match that level of... bubbly. All love to Pinkie Pie though. On the topic of the story outside of the poems, I wrote it because I love to have some sort of thread or sinew connecting the meat of my poems. It ties everything together into a neat little bow and allows me to create a character, in this case You, which I otherwise would not be able to do. I've done this before, for those who can find out my other pseud, and I will certainly do it again. Probably. The story itself is not super important I suppose, but it is almost a set of poems in itself. If you squint. No, no, you have to squint more than that. Still can't see it? Well, whatever, you'll just have to take my word for it then. Or not, I don't care! (I care very deeply.)Additionally, the story was created because I have a habit of taking my writing far too seriously, thus bloating it into something larger than it needs to be. Does there need to be a story outside of my poems? No. Did I want there to be? Yes. Did I want to have a serial? Also yes, but I specifically wanted a serial that would be less stressful because I am incapable of writing serious chapters less than 5k words. And I am incapable of being fun in chapter writing in general.Moving on to the poems themselves! Yay, the best part! (for me at least) As noted in the carrd--but not in the gdoc because I like my formatting simple over there--many of the poems are based on or from the perspective of various characters. Some of them are my personal characters, my OCs if you will, while others are from shows, movies, books, etc. That's the whole reason I chose an Ao3 author intro setup, actually. It all works out. I'm writing poetry fanfiction, so I might as well have an intro to match! Some of these poems, admittedly, were not originally written "from the perspective of a character," rather they were written by me about someone or something tangible and real in my life. With my real name tacked on to them, they are far too personal, but if I change a few subtle words around and add a character sign off, I am much less embarrassed to share them.Other poems are written with the intention of being a character study, a relationship study, a dissection of a moment, or something along those lines. I love the concept of being in someone's head, and what better way is there to do so than to write from their perspective?Well, that's all I can think of for now. This may be updated in some very remote, far in the future date. Until then, have a lovely day/night/[insert time here] and remember: the rest is confetti.
-You, Me, Us

Notes:

I know I set this up so it looks like there might be another part, but it's all a lie. An aesthetic lie, but a lie nonetheless.
